GROB - Gewerkschaft gewinnt

Am Freitag den 21. Oktober hat die Firma Grob nachgegeben: Luis Batista Oliveira ist wieder eingestellt und kann seine gewerkschaftlichen Aufgaben wieder wahrnehmen. Die (englische) Pressemitteilung "Victory at Grob Brasil" der CNM vom 23. Oktober 2005.

Victory at Grob Brasil

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our brother Luis Batista Oliveira, Union director at machine-builder Grob Brasil, Sao Bernardo do Campo, arbitrarily fired at the beginning of August, had his job and Union post reinstated last Friday, the 21st of October.

After 72 days of struggle, during which he was camping in front of the plant, and with some strikes at the plant, lots of solidarity demonstrations, stoppage of Grob machines at DaimlerChrysler and Ford, intervention of the the Ministry of labor, the Brazilian section of the ILO and the German embassy in Brasil, and hundreds of protest letters from around the world to the company in Brasil and in Germany, the respect for in-plant Union organization was finally restored.

On behalf of our Union and brother Luis Oliveira, I'd like to thank everybody that helped somehow with this major accomplishment for the Grob workers in Brasil.
