The large-scale house demolition operation in Rafah has woken up many people. The media changed tone, started at least to put some question marks, allowing the debate about war crimes to take place center stage.

But it was felt even more from the way people started phoning and emailing each other, expecting that perhaps the other knew about when will there be a big rally. After more than a week was lost waiting for Godot, while things got worse by the day, now a committee has been formed by members of ICAHD, Women's Coalition for Peace, Gush Shalom, Ta'ayush and New Profile, which cut through the hesitations and decided that it has to be

Saturday night, Feb. 2, in Tel-Aviv Museum Square, 7.30 in the evening.

The idea is to involve as many organizations as are willing to contribute and mobilize for a demonstration with the following headline:

THE OCCUPATION IS KILLING US ALL (HAKIBUSH HOREG ET KULANU)

Stop the killing - Dai la hereg
Stop the assassinations - Dai la chisulim
Stop the destruction - Dai la harisa
Stop the escalation - Dai lahaslama
Stop the war crimes - Dai le pish'ey milchama
Stop the revenge - Dai le nekama
etc.

[culminating in:]

STOP THE OCCUPATION - DAI LE KIBUSH

There will be an ad in Ha'aretz, speakers, artists, a special poster hung at billboards in the big cities, there is going to be a stage, light, sound, transportation from several places in the country. That's what we want. Those who did it in the past don't want to try, so we have to do it ourselves.

The organizations who are behind this initiative will do their utmost but cannot be expected to carry this alone. In order to get it done, we also cannot rely only on what we will collect during the event.

WE NEED IMMEDIATE CONTRIBUTIONS.

If you think it is worth it, then write NOW a cheque. Your contribution should be made out to "Ezra humanitari" (a bank account was opened by Yakov Manor specifically for the purpose of receiving contributions for such occasions); on a separate paper should be written "for demo Feb'2".
