Auch in Karnataka wehren sich Bauern und Landbevölkerung gegen die Landnahme für Industrieprojekte

Während in Westbengalen die Auseinandersetzungen um Nandigram weitergehen und jetzt auch ein drittes Landnahmeprojekt zur Industrialisierung auf erbitterten Widerstand trifft, sollte nicht vergessen werden, dass jene Mainstream-Parteien die dort auf Opposition machen, in jenen Bundesstaaten, wo sie an der Regierung beteiligt sind, vergleichbare Projekte durchziehen und auf vergleichbaren Widerstand treffen. Das Dokument "Tumkur Farmers fight against land acquisition" der Karnataka Labour Federation vom 3. Dezember 2007 steht insofern auch für Widerstände anderswo, die sich ausbreiten.

Tumkur Farmers fight against land acquisition

After continoues interaction with farmers of Kora Hobli of tumkur Taluka in Tumkur district KLF made farmers to form a committe to fight against proposed Industrial zone in the area. Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board has issued notice to the farmers of 10 villages of this area for land acquisition. 90% of the farmers of this area are small and marginal farmers and soley
depended on farming for thier livelyhood. The board has fixed Rs. 3,00,000/-per acre as componsation. But the market value of the land in the particualr area is around Rs. 10,00,000/-per acre.

The tragedy is that more than 50% of the farmers doesn't has the proper documents for claim the ownership for the land. So, these farmers will never get any componsation for the displacement. Now KIADB has notified for 1575 acres of land and survey is in progress for acquire 1500 acres. On 2nd December all farmers had meeting and decided to not to give the land to the state and fight
agaisnt the displacement plan of the government.

Farmers formed committee to fight against this. Mr. Ashok president of KLF is elected as Pricipal covenor of the committee, Mr. Ekeswar editor of local kannada dialy is elected as convener and other 15 farmers were elected as co-conveners of the committee.

Committee as decided to go for one day hunger strike on 17th of December in front of collectors office of Tumkur district. The Committee is named as Tumkur Raitha Bhu Rakshana samithi(Tumkur farmers land protection committe).
