Flashpoints On Zeltzer Expulsion From Korea

On Wednesday November17,1999 ,94.1 FM KPFA's Flashpoints will forcus on the expulsion of Labor Videographer and journalist Steve Zeltzer from Korea. Zeltzer was in Korea to attend the 1999 LaborMedia Conference (http://lmedia.nodong.net) which included many trade unionists as well as delegates from around the world. He was expelled from the country on November 12, 1999. Protests were immediately organized at the Kimpo Airport and other events are being held against the exclusion of not only Zeltzer but other unionists and activists who are in sympathy with the struggles of the Korean working class.

CS Sung, the Flashpoints program host will also interview a founder of Labor News Production Myoung Joon Kim of Seoul Korea. Myoung Joon Kim has helped train trade unionists from throughout the country on how to use labor video in their struggles. The growing repression against the labor movement in Korea comes on the heels of a massive economic crisis in Korea that has led to large layoffs and economic bankruptcy for millions.
