Solidarität mit der ILWU

Die Dockergewerkschaft der amerikanischen Westküste, die ILWU, ist ziemlich bekannt für ihre breite Arbeit der internationalen Solidarität. Für die aktuelle Auseinandersetzung in den Häfen der US-Westküste, die voraussichtlich Ende Juni in Streik/Aussperrung münden wird, benötigt sie nun selbst Solidaritätserklärungen. Call For Solidarity With ILWU

ILWU's longshore contract expires at the end of June. The employer group, Pacific Maritime Association, is threatening to lock us out or alternately, we, 10,500 longshoremen, may be striking to defend our jobs, working conditions and benefits here on the West Coast of the United States.

Over the years, ILWU has been supportive of other workers' struggles around the world. Now, it would be helpful if we could get messages of support from trade unions, especially transport unions here and internationally.

To steel our members and build morale in the event of such a struggle, we will be posting messages of support, either email (jheyman@bayarea.net) or faxes (415-441-0610), on the Local 10 Strike Bulletin Board in our union hiring hall in San Francisco. I'm also enclosing fax numbers for other major ILWU locals on the West Coast. Thanks in advance for your solid support.
