We need your support and solidarity

Comrades,
The managers of General Motors in São José dos Campos (Brazil) informed us today (Thursday, the 20th of March) that the sector of iron and aluminium forging was sold to a company named Tecksid, in the state of Minas Gerais. The announcement was made by Fernando Garcia, the manager of Human Resources.

According to the company, the total desactivation of the activities will happen in 2006, but there will be a gradual reduction of the sector, starting next year. There are 1.100 workers in the area.

We are against subcontracting and we defend that the company keeps the sector. We also are demanding stability for all workers during three years. A new meeting will be held on the 1st of April.

Facing this situation, we need your support and solidarity. We would like to have letters and messages sent to the company, in favor of our demand. We truly believe that only the unity among the workers, at this point, will force the bosses to give up the plan of closing this sector of GM.
